The property is off the road and approached along its own private tarmac drive. At the end of the drive there is a simple shaded car port for two cars. The front area is dry stone walled with a fine old solid wood garden door as the main entrance.
The property is an old converted farmhouse built of stone with traditional Spanish terracotta roof tiles in grounds of 3,300 sq metres on its hillside.
The house comprises on the ground floor 2 large bedrooms (one ensuite bathroom) with built in wardrobes. a good sized kitchen dining room (with double doors to the outside patio) and a small room with a toilet and washbasin off a hall to the bedrooms. On the next level there is a large reception room (with double doors for the entrance from the naya) and a smaller reception room or fourth bedroom currently used as a games room/second reception room (with double doors onto another small patio with bougainvilleas), and a small utility room with water that will convert to a shower room if wished. On the top floor a very large bedroom with extensive wardrobes (with French windows onto a small balcony) and ensuite bathroom.. All floors are traditionally Spanish tiled as are the bathrooms, which are fully tiled. All modernisation is in keeping with the tradional age of the building.
The inside walls of the house are partly stone and partly plastered/concrete. all rooms have extensive beams and the two reception rooms have fireplaces with old beam mantles, but the chimneys are currently sealed off.
To the front of the house, there is a large covered veranda (naya) and outside the kitchen/dining area a good sized grape vine covered patio. All these areas are floor tiled in traditional Spanish style. To the rear of the house, off the second reception room there is another small patio with large mature bougainvilleas and steps down to an outhouse where the gas heating/hotwater boiler is located.
To the right side of the naya there is a tiled barbecue, next to an old traditional bread oven, hence the name of the property El Fornet (which translates as "the oven" or "bakery").
The garden area is terraced from the old farming days and sunk into the terracing is a large swimming pool that is carefully landscaped and located so as to be out of sight from the house. The pool is fully tiled with a pool filtered waterfall and is surrounded by palms, oleanders and bougainvillea etc. The pool pump house for pool water treatment is an old small building in a corner away to the side and back of the pool. There is a heat pump to extend the swimming season. The garden has three ponds with goldfish and water lilies and an old restored wooden bridge between two of the ponds.
To the side of the house, up some stone steps, there is a large outhouse with laundry facilities, a workbench area and shelving for garden tools and pool equipment, storage etc. Behind this outhouse there are washing lines hidden by oleanders and there is an old well, no longer in use.
The terraced garden has a good variety of mediterranean flowering bushes (jasmine, jacaranda, habiscus, oleander, mimosa, malvaviscus, brunfelsia, bougainvilia etc), orange and lemon trees, some nispero fruit trees, figs, some apricots and a small walnut tree.
The view from the house and pool is if the famous local mountain Montgo.
The property benefits by being in a rural location, not overlooked but close to the excellent village of Jesus Pobre, with its famed weekly Sunday market, and within a few kilometres of Javea and Denia for their beaches and shopping. Along the coast there are many quiet coves for swimming and surfing and people sail in Javea andDenia. Gata de Gorgos, renowned for its basket work, is also only a few kilometres away. there is a golf club close by as well as one in Javea.
