OLULA DE CASTRO is a white farming village in the Sierra de los Filabres.
It is a mountain village 1000 meters above sea level.
The mountains dominate the views and are scattered with olive, and almond trees, which are a stunning sight in February when they are in bloom.
The valleys are cultivated by the locals.
The climate is clear and sunny with minimal rain.
It can be cold in winter, but the property has oil-fired central heating and for the hot summers air conditioning.
The village is very quiet, there is no through traffic.
It is a haven for walkers and bird watchers.
The wild flowers in spring are stunning.

A word about the water!
Most of the drinking water in Spain is hard and although safe it is not pleasant to taste. Most Spanish buy water for this reason.
The water in Olula de Castro comes from the mountains above the village and is very soft. It tastes better than any bottled water. In 25 years living there none of our electrical appliances furred up and I never used salt in the dishwater.
