This icon is situated at the magnificent temple which is located at the entrance of the village built around the late 18th century. Next to the church there is a temple which is also dedicated to the Virgin Mary of IAMATIKI a historical monument preached by OUNESCO as a historical museum with rare paintings built on the 14th century.
The Virgin Mary of Iamatiki celebrates on 8th September and each year on this day there is a big fair for her. The duration of this festival is around 3 days and is the biggest trade fair that takes place in Cyprus. Except from the day of the fair, the Virgin Mary is visited every Sunday and holiday by pilgrims from all over Cyprus.
Due to the large attendance of a large amount of visitors and number of foreign buyers which reside permanently at the village operate a coffee shop daily, and the well known KALAMARAS restaurant which works 7 days a week with purely traditional Cypriot cuisine.
