Foca fantastic getaway yet beautiful ancient town located 1 hour away from Izmir, stunning views from every point of the house. Freshly renovated must come to see for your own viewing. The town of Foça is situated at about 69 km (43 mi) northwest of İzmir's city center. The district also has a township with its own municipality named Yenifoça (literally "New Foça"), also along the shore and at a distance of 20 km (12 mi) from Foça proper. For this reason, Foça itself is locally often called as Eskifoça ("Old Foça") in daily parlance. The ancient city of Phocaea (Greek: Φώκαια) is located between the two modern Foças.
Positioned on the west coast of Turkey, Foça is a town in Izmir best known for its crystal clear waters, rich history, and delicious seafood. As was revealed last month, Mark Warner’s newest resort will be welcoming guests from May this year and is situated on the outskirts of this beautiful harbor town.

Foça boasts a beautiful climate, being the area of Izmir that receives the least amount of rainfall each year. The Mediterranean climate is dominant, with the summer months being dry and hot with an average of 26°C, usually accompanied by a gentle breeze. Even well into September and October, the average daily temperature is around 24-25°C, meaning guests to our Phokaia resort can make the most of the Autumn sun.

Thanks to a combination of mild climate, soil structure, and migration and trade routes passing through Izmir, Foça has a rich cuisine to offer visitors. Olive oil is prized as the source of health, beauty and a nutritious diet in Turkey, as well as wild herbs and greens. The reflection of the presence of ethnic communities in Izmir is reflected in the beautiful seafood on offer, with mezes made out of prawns, scallops, crab and squid, accompanied with the most important condiments; garlic and olive oil! A charming feature of Izmir is the tradition of a flower for every season; artichoke for spring, zucchini blossoms for summer and figs for autumn, which are incorporated into seasonal dishes.

The hilly nature of the Foça terrain means it is a great travel destination for those who enjoy road cycling and mountain biking, and the picturesque bay is ideal for sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking! There are six small islands facing Foca and among these are Orak and Incir, known as the Sirens’ Rocks mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey. With the town exuding so much character, the Phokaia resort stays in-keeping with the charm of the region, incorporating traditional elements with a luxury feel.

The town of Foça and the surrounding areas truly have so much to offer and we look forward to welcoming visitors who are keen to experience this beautiful part of Turkey in May!
