Set in a wonderful location with fabulous views over rolling countryside and the mountains beyond, the south-facing property is a delightful, sympathetically renovated farmhouse sitting in its own gardens. More than 100 years old, the house is well-maintained and shows many original features. It is in a peaceful position at the end of a lane, surrounded by open fields, olive groves and vineyards, making it particularly suitable for nature lovers and those who like a bit of peace and quiet, and yet only 10-minutes from civilisation!
The garden has a well and a variety of fruit trees including olives, cherries, figs, mulberry and pomegranate. Not overlooked, the garden would be ideal for a swimming pool. There is plenty of hard-standing for cars.
Upstairs, the first floor of the farmhouse has 4 generous-sized bedrooms, all of which are dual-aspect and have views of the charming rolling countryside (typical of Le Marche region) and the Sibillini mountain range beyond. The first-floor rooms all have double-glazed windows, vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, which amplify the cool, spacious feel of the house.
There are two bathrooms, both with walk-in showers (one is a wet-room).
The large kitchen-diner-lounge spans the width of the house. It has a woodburner, and terracotta floortiles.
Optional: the property can be available part or fully furnished.
The ground floor would have originally been used for keeping the farm animals, and is now used as a workshop/storage. This has potential to be converted into further living space, perhaps two large self-contained apartments, or doubling the current extensive accommodatioin. The floors were all relaid and strengthened with the addition of ventilation in 2017.
The nearest inhabited property is about half-a-kilometre away across the fields, and all the neighbours are unwaveringly welcoming and hospitable.
The sleepy medieval village of San Marcello is 3km away, where you might like to try one of the local restaurants, sample the local speciality Verdicchio and Lacrima DOC wines, or simply wander around the picturesque streets and alleyways to soak up the atmosphere. The local villages regularly have festivals, celebrating anything from sausages to sangria! Touristy it is not - this is real Italy at her finest.
An easy 8km away is the lively, medieval market town of Jesi, with all the amenities you would expect including museums, theatre, piazzas and pizzerias! Stylish clothes shops, bustling bars and traditional restaurants will spoil you for choice. In the evenings the streets come alive when the locals socialise during their 'passeggiata' or evening stroll. The centre of Jesi old town is set within imposing, floodlit ramparts, (which can be accessed via an escalator if you wish).
Ancona is just 30 minutes away and is a main port within the Adriatic (second only to Venice) with regular ferries to Greece and Croatia. Ancona old town is located near the port area, with shaded piazzas and wonderful alleyways and side streets.
