Details

This beautiful south-east facing house was built around 1850 as a farm. It sits on 12,000 sq. meters (approx. 3 acres) of lovely, terraced land, with spectacular and uninterrupted views over the Bevera valley, the ancient village of Sospel about 3 kms distant, and the mountains of Liguria (Italy) on the horizon. It has beautiful views in all directions, and the house is filled with light. The land features 40 olive trees and many fruit and nut trees, including pear, apple, quince, plum, walnut, hazelnut, etc. There is a wooded copse at the end of the property.

The renovation and new construction was done in 2005 and includes the extensive use of stainless steel and glass, and a modern extension harmonising but contrasting with the historic, original building. A glass stairway and mezzanine provide a beautiful interior aspect to the two-story reception room with its cathedral loft ceiling and suspended fireplace (Focus).

This three-storey house is located in the peaceful back country, in the foothills of the Maritime Alps. It is a 25-minute drive from the beach town of Menton, with easy access to the cities of the Cote d'Azur. Monaco and the Italian market town of Ventimiglia are both a 35-minute drive.

While this spacious property offers peace and seclusion, there is a vibrant community of friendly neighbours in the vicinity, providing discreet support when needed.

The nearby village of Sospel is a thriving community, with small shops, bakeries, bars and restaurants, banks, a pharmacy, a modern health facility/hospital, and all municipal services.
