Paleokatouna is a small village with a community of both Greek and English. Nidri is a bustling tourist area with a good selection of shops, many restaurants, bars and a beautiful harbourfront that trips boats operate from in the summer. The Harbour and main street are pedestrianized during the season, making it a pleasant area to wander in the evening, stop and eat or just have a coffee and watch the world go by. Lefkas town is a 20-minute drive, where you will find larger supermarkets, Lidl, Spar and Carrefour, plus restaurants, a modern marina and other facilities.
Airports/Ferry connections to the area: Preveza (Aktio) airport is a 45 min drive, open May to October. Athens airport is open all year with regular bus services to Lefkada, and there is a good ferry service from Igoumenitsa (2 hour drive) to ports in Italy and Corfu.
