A wonderful feature of this villa is it's extra large garden area located immediately behind the rear garden with mature palm and other trees and has the large 12 metre x 6 metre swimming pool. The villa is located in a quiet urbanisation on the edge of Ayamonte, and situated with amazing views over the stunning countryside both front and back, and even over to Portugal. For the golf lovers, the professionally managed Guadiana Links golf course is just a mile away from the villa, which also has a very good restaurant. The urbanisation is extremely clean and well maintained with its many palm trees and roadside gardens, and a local shop caters for all needs. A pharmacy, further mini market and gastro bar are also due to open in the near future.
Ayamonte is situated in the most south westerly part of mainland Spain on the Spanish Algarve, on the 'Costa Luz' [Coast of Light] on the Gulf of Cadiz, and is a very old small town originally built on the sardine and tuna fishing industry. An attractive town with many old buildings and walkways, and with two main squares with numerous cafes and restaurants, yet not the typical busy Spanish coastal 'tourist' destination, and is a perfect example of the 'real' Spain. Ayamonte town boasts a few supermarkets, medical centres, veterinary practices, excellent schools catering for all ages, sports facilities, pharmacies, and even a large marina to 'park the boat'! Main hospitals for the area are a short drive distance. Located on the very edge of the River Guadiana which is the border with Portugal, and can be quickly crossed via the bridge, or more sedately with the 5 minute ferry crossing, taking you to the equally beautiful town of Vila Real de San Antonio and medieval town of Castro Marim with its two amazing castles , where there are also many shops and restaurants, but with a totally different culture and people. Ayamonte enjoys many spectacular festivals throughout the year, also of interest are the numerous sea salt farms on the banks of the river. The local people, both Spanish and Portuguese, are very warm, welcoming and friendly. Living in this corner of Spain is very much an 'outdoor' lifestyle with plenty of amazing countryside and beach walks with very clean air as there is no industry anywhere near. The food is fantastic and extremely low priced, as is the general cost of living here. Living here is like 'stepping back in time' and is a very relaxed and easy going lifestyle.
All needs are available locally, including all British foods. At the lower end of Ayamonte is Isla Canela with it's beautiful clean and unspoilt 7km long beach, ideal for walking the dog with its long promenade, or enjoying a relaxing swim in the summer. Many water sports can be enjoyed here or on the river. Ayamonte has such a climate that flocks of flamingos are often residing in some of the local lakes, together with egrets, herons, spoonbills and the large storks can also be seen often. Ayamonte enjoys wonderful long summers and mild winters, with warm evenings great for those BBQ's as you watch the spectacular sunsets. Just over an hour's drive and you can be enjoying the sights in the historical city of Seville, or drive the other direction and enjoy all the pleasures of the Portuguese Algarve with its many beautiful beaches just a short drive.
Nearest airport - Faro [Portugal] 40 minutes drive with 'low cost' flights to most UK airports and many European destinations
We would seriously consider a 'house swap' for a suitable property in the mid western France area, from La Rochelle, south to Royan and east to Limoges area.
