We are situated between 2 small towns Piegut Pluvier (5.6km) and Nontron (11km). In Piegut there is an Intermarche Supermarket and a number of café/restaurants, there is a doctor’s practise and Dr Chepau speaks English and a superb pharmacy where a number of the staff speak English also. There is a Wednesday market in Piegut which has been in existence since the 16th century, it fills the main street from 8.00am until 12.00am
Nontron is the larger of the 2 towns, it has 4 Supermarkets Intermarche, SuperU, Lidl and a Bio Coop, and a large DIY store, Bricomarche part of the Intermarche group and a couple of traditional Builders Merchants. There is a doctor’s practice where Dr Chraibi speaks some English, however his receptionist and also his wife taught English to French pupils, so there are no language problems. There is also a dental practice run by a Dutchman called Hugo Kun.
Also, in Nontron, Hermes the luxury goods manufacturer has extended their manufacturing plant and now employ around 600 people.
In Nontron the famous knives which bear the name of the town are handmade, they have changed little since they started being made in the 15th Century. There is a viewing gallery in the workshop where you can see the knives being made.
A couple of kilometres away is the village of St Estephe with its large lake and free boating activities and swimming access, hot snacks are served during Summer.

Brantome, known as the Venice of Périgord is just 25kilometres away and is well worth the visit, surrounded as it is by the river with at least a half dozen of restaurants and cafés.

Limoges Airport with multiple links to the UK is an hour’s drive away,
