Details

Large rendered stone-built, corner-sited 3-bedroomed house on the central square of a lovely French village. Situated in the Haute-Vienne, a department in the Limousin region of Nouvelle Aquitaine, it is a low-maintenance, renovated family home or holiday home. The whole terrace was once part of an 18th-century nunnery, converted into shops in the 19th century, and the art deco "BOUCHERIE" sign is still visible on the outside of the house. An attractive interior comprises, on the ground floor, a kitchen, bathroom/utility room, dining room, lounge and a spacious downstairs bedroom which was formerly the "shop" and is currently a study. Upstairs, 2 double bedrooms, one very large that leads to a large study, the other with a door leading to the attic; a bathroom, and a walk-in wardrobe. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom in addition to upstairs bedrooms and bathroom allow for independent living for a teenager, an elderly relative, or even a paying guest. The house has two attractive enclosed patios or jardinets, both of which have mature shrubs and plants and are easy to manage. The one outside the front entrance provides privacy from the road and opportunities for outside dining, while the one off the lounge is sunnier and gives further privacy and space for planting herbs and vegetables.

There are two non-attached parcels of land: one a few paces to the right of the house is a parking area, while the other c.100 metres to the left of the house is a potager/allotment currently under grass and fruit trees. The house has fibre-optic Internet, a satellite dish for English TV reception, and shutters on all windows and doors, which are all double-glazed. The house is on mains drainage, heated by electric panels, rated E for energy performance and B for CO2 emissions. The village is home to a friendly Anglo-French community and has a bar with epicerie, clothing for sale and daily baguette deliveries, a restaurant, tabac, post office, car repair garage, library with French and English books, a primary school, and a 13th-century church.
