This charming old stone property was built around 1900 and is set in over 3,000 sq.m of glorious gardens. The house still retains the simple beauty of that era with wooden shutters and doors with recessed wooden-framed windows and was fully renovated in the 1990’s keeping as much of the original character as possible, and has been well maintained ever since.
The secluded house and gardens are surrounded by fields with long views across the country-side to the South, West and North. The small town of Bieuzy les Eaux is within walking distance of this beautiful, rural home and not far from the popular riverside village of St. Nicolas-des-Eaux where numerous river sports can be enjoyed. The Rimaison Golf Club is a short drive up the hill and a small riding school is with-in walking distance.
In the main shopping centres of Pontivy (12 mins) and Baud (approx. 15 mins) there are doctors, local schools, train services and main freeways all just a short car drive away. The school bus passes the gate. The new Pontivy hospital is approx. 20 mins away. The international airport of Rennes is an hour and a bit away and there are two ferry ports within an hour and a half. The extraordinarily beautiful Brittany west coast is only forty minutes away.
The house is encircled by shale and the sanded drive-way will park three cars. The entrance leads into a magnificent sitting room/dining room with two old stone fireplaces, one with a log-burning stove. There are stone walls on three sides of this room which complements the original oak flooring, wooden ceiling and beams. Two double windows to the front and four radiators.
This leads to the kitchen with up-to-date appliances, a vaulted ceiling, original beams and ceramic tile floor. Simple wooden cupboards, an induction hob, extractor fan and oven and two double windows to the rear. There is plumbing for a dishwasher and washing machine and space for a fridge and room for a breakfast area. One radiator. The part glazed/wooden back door heads out onto a sunny patio area.
Off the kitchen is the tiled bath/shower room containing a white suite of toilet, wash-basin, centrally heated towel-rail, shower and bath. Ceramic tile flooring and a double window. Stairs from the kitchen lead up to the landing which has a radiator and opens onto the front dormer window.
The four double bedrooms all have vaulted ceilings, beams, natural stone walls and velux windows and are carpeted. Bedroom four is presently used as an office but could be turned into an upstairs bathroom with plumbing from the bathroom below.
The house has full gas fired De Dietrich central heating system with six large radiators. On demand hot water is constantly available from an electric night storage system.
ADSL/Broadband/Wi-Fi is available. There are two phone sockets.
Attached to the house is a newly built, self-contained room built in natural stone with a vaulted, wooden ceiling and ceramic flooring. A double window to the south side and a velux. It is presently being used as a craft workshop but an original, unused doorway could be easily knocked through to the dining room, offering a further bedroom/sunroom.
In the garden, there is a large, stone building and stone log store or covered carport, an original stone well and a secluded seating/barbecue area. The gardens are natural yet stunning with numerous trees, lawn, shrubs, orchard and soft fruit etc, a well maintained vegetable garden and greenhouse with a water collection butt. The gardens have been laid out to attract wildlife and are organically managed.
This house really must be visited!
