Attractive House in a traditional village on the stunning South-East Coast of Crete. The Village is in a slightly elevated position, about two kilometres from the Sea and the lively, sophisticated Town of Ierapetra which has a diversity of restaurants, cafes, upmarket shops, large supermarkets and every modern infrastructure with plenty going on all year around. There is also a weekly street market where the excellent and diverse local produce may be purchased.

The Property : Attractive two-storey Cretan Village House, area being approximately 140 Square Metres, outside space approximately 35 Square Metres. The House comes fully furnished and equipped.

The communications at the house are excellent with landline telephone connection, fast internet allowing various means of receiving BBC and other UK and European TV Channels live, also excellent mobile phone reception. English owners, so no language difficulties or multiple Greek owners, that is often the case and can prolong and complicate transactions.

The Village : An attractive village, small but fully populated, mainly local villagers but also popular with Greeks seeking a residence that little bit outside the nearby town of Ierapetra, there are also a small number of ex-pat foreigners. There is an excellent lively Village Taverna where the tradition of serving a number of small complementary mezze delicacies free with your drinks is still observed, should you not be seeking a meal from their menu. The locals are friendly and welcoming, most have a small agricultural holding of some sort, with much high quality Olive Oil and Oranges being produced in the region, a gift of produce being another of their charming customs.

Beaches etc. : If you like the beach, in the immediate area there are a number of excellent ones, mainly delightful quiet small bays with the cleanest, crystal clear water in the whole Mediterranean. Having lived most of the year here for about ten years, we can totally recommend the situation, also being not far to the North Coast should you wish a day out in Agios Nikolaos or Elounda for a change. You can also easily drive up to traditional Mountain Villages or visit a Nature Reserve, of which there are several in the area.. Should you like walking, immediately behind Vainia itself are a number of scenic paths leading up into the nearby craggy hills and mountains.
