The complex has 3 blocks each with 28 apartments of varying sizes all built in 2006 and also a slighter older section built a few years earlier. There is a communal pool and car park, plus under ground parking if you purchase a space. The building has stairs and an elevator. The complex is a mix of holiday makers and permanent residents
It is a secure lock up and go apartment set in the side of a mountain with fabulous views of the sea and inland views of the old village of Tortoreto .
Tortoreto Lido is 5 minutes away.
It is a holiday resort which is mainly frequented by Italian families. There is a mixture of Europeans in the summer months but if you are looking for authentic Italian, this coast line is for you. The warm sea, which is patrolled by lifeguards, and safe sandy beaches stretch for miles and in the summer is busy with restaurants, bars, children's entertainment, and some lovely ice-cream parlours
The old village of Tortoreto is only a few minutes drive up the hill and is also walkable for the more energetic. It is a beautiful old village with stunning views, churches, narrow streets and Italian restaurants serving pizza by the metre, oven roasted lamb skewers, spaghetti vongole, mussels and much more. There are 2 more bars/icecream parlours and a local shop, plus a post office. The month of August is for local festivals and in the village square they have music and parades in traditional costume plus lots of fireworks.
10 mins by car there is Onda Blu Waterpark which is suitable for all ages including toddlers.
Shopping is very easy as there are 2 large shopping malls within a 5-10 min drive with supermarkets, clothes shops and more restaurants.
Campo Imperatore is a ski resort on the Gran Sasso mountain. It is a 50 minute drive from the apartment with easy access and parking in the pretty village of Assergi. The Gondola ride to the top takes only 5 minutes where there is a restaurant and equipment hire, blue and red runs with chair and button lifts. The resort is quite high so the skiing season is usually long.
Passo Lanciano is another Ski resort and is a 1 ½ hour drive from the apartment to the chair lift, but it is worth the drive. Again this is a small Italian ski resort with only a few hotels and the school children from this region are brought here to learn. It has a nice blue run which is long and tree lined both sides so you can’t get lost, there are a couple of red runs and if you drive a bit further up the mountain to Majelletta you will find a good nursery slope, more red and blue runs plus a snowpark for boarders. There are a few bars/restaurants, so you won’t go hungry.
The lift pass and ski hire in the Abruzzo region is very reasonably priced which makes it skiing on the cheap. There are other ski resorts in the region which we have not explored and beautiful mountains with ancient villages balancing on the edge.
