Property in Bulgaria
Bulgaria has captured the imagination of British bargain hunters in recent years. With housing stock ranging from seaside apartments and villas on the Black Sea coast, to ski lodges in resorts like Bansko and Borovets, traditional village homes inland, and flats in the capital, Sofia, the country offers property to suit all tastes, at prices way lower than in most of the rest of Europe. Off-plan developments in the Black Sea regions have proved particularly popular with investors hoping to capitalise on Bulgaria's entry into the EU, although some pundits forecast an eventual over-supply of property, and point to poor quality construction and lax planning controls.
