The harbour-side restaurants are perfect for cosy suppers, while rambling nature walks take you into the pretty countryside, and the quiet beach means plenty of uninterrupted lazing.
Crowd-free beach
The beach at Latchi is a mile-long stretch of sand and pebble, framed by forested hills and pleasantly crowd-free. The water here is warm and shallow, and there are plenty of sunloungers and umbrellas for hire. And for those who want a real hit of sand, Polis is only 3 kilometres away.
Nature walks
Latchi is on the doorstep of Akamas National Park – an area of outstanding natural beauty. It’s got over 50 well-signposted nature trails that cover gentle walks and longer hikes that take you through a landscape of carob and olive trees, and pine and juniper forests. Some of the best trails are on the road out to Polis near Aphrodite’s Bath.
Visiting Paphos
Just 45 minutes away is Paphos. The ancient capital of Cyprus wears its history well, with a huge Roman amphitheatre, 1,000-year-old underground tombs and the famous Paphos Mosaics – a fabulous showcase of Greek mythology. Even the harbour, throbbing with lively bars and cafés, has an Ottoman castle on the side.
