The most popular areas in France for British property buyers have tended to be to the north and west of the country, from
Brittany and
Normandy down through the Loire Valley, to the
Dordogne region. More recently the south of the country has opened up to British buyers thanks to a plethora of budget air routes, with areas around Bordeaux, Toulouse, the Pyrenees and
Languedoc-Roussillon attracting many second home owners and retirees. Paris, the
Cote d'Azur and the
Alps are perennial favourites offering reliable tourist rental income. Newer areas for buyers wanting rural renovation properties include inland regions such as Limousin and Auvergne.
