Our hamlet is called Rancogne and we are in the area of the Charente closest to the Limousin known as the Charente-Limousine. It also borders the northern part of the Dordogne.
The countryside is very undulating with hills and valleys. Local attractions include the fairy-tale Chateaux of La Rochefoucauld, Rochechouart & Verteuil. The Trail of Richard the Lionheart follows his campaign in the middle ages through glorious countryside, castles and abbeys. The lakes of Haute Charente are only 10 minutes for fishing and water sports. It feels peacefully rural here but you have very good road, rail and air links (Limoges airport with budget flights to all over the UK only 35 minutes) . Ten minutes takes you to the nearest town with all facilities: Two supermarkets, DIY store, Banks, Health Centre with Doctors, Dentist, Chiropodist & Physiotherapist.
