Aegina is a picturesque island just 40 minutes by hydrofoil from Piraeus, the port of Athens. It is easy to reach from Athens Airport but has a genuine Greek island atmosphere, unspoilt by mass foreign tourism. Unlike some islands it retains a substantial year-round population. It has almost everything you need in terms of services with easy access to the city for anything else. The island is world-famous for its pistachios (fistikia) and has an annual Festival to celebrate them.
Aegina has a small but friendly ex-pat population of many nationalities.
