Agropoli Information

The Cilento starts at Agropoli and finishes at Sapri and extends inland. There are many coastal villages, sandy beaches and is very much unspoilt and will remain so being in the Cilento National Park and Maritime Park. The town of Agropoli is a mix of old and new. The historic centre perched on the hill is a few minutes walk up the ancient steps and through the old battlement walls. There is a castle open to the public which holds festivals and exhibitions. Situated amongst the winding cobbled streets are 2 restaurants overlooking the sea, further restaurants and cafes, a few shops and spectacular churches. The newer part of town has many restaurants to choose from, cafes, banks, shops etc. It's very much an Italian town and open all year round. There is a railway station (Agropoli-Castellabate) where the trains run direct to Salerno, Herculaneum, Pompeii, Naples (1hr 10mins) and Rome (3hrs 30mins). There is also a bus service, various taxi services and a car rental shop opposite the station.
