A beautiful , lovingly restored farmhouse with approximately 1000 square meters of land in the Barbera wine region. The land consists of a private, well-kept garden with pool pavilion and a garden pond. There is also a vegetable garden, a large barn with bathroom and two water cisterns. The garden and garage is fully enclosed and accessed by electric remote control gates.
Our cottage is called the "Nido", Italian for nest--because it is small, snug and has a bird's eye view over the surrounding hills, fields, castles and vineyards. It was built in the 1600's of the heavy bricks of a ruined fortress castle which once rose on the site. Today, it stands in a private and tranquil corner of a pretty and traditional village--a few minutes walk to an excellant shop/butcher, and cafe.
n 1998, we bought a hilltop property with a spectacular view. There was a small, brick barn in the middle of the vineyard, which we converted into a guest cottage. The barn's exterior changed very little in the renovation, but inside, we built a completely new vacation house; designed to be comfortable and easy to maintain. Plumbing, heating, and electric systems are all modern. New roof is fully insulated and has skylight.
