Moncarapacho is a thriving, traditional market town. The airport at Faro is about a half an hour drive on the A22 motorway, and access to this is about 3 km away. Moncarapacho has several good restaurants and bars, supermarkets, a traditional daily market, chemist, health centre, dentists, optician, banks, Post Office, a small museum, churches, as well as nursery, primary and secondary schools. All needs catered for, and all in very easy walking distance of the apartment. Olhao, which is the second largest town on the Algarve after Faro, is about 8 km away from Moncarapacho. Here there are many varied shops, a beautiful church, museum, dentists, opticians, doctors, and the famous market halls which are side by side and overlook the marina. From here there are regular boats to the islands of Farol, Culatra and Armona. There is a regular bus service between Moncarapacho and Olhao and on to Faro. There is also a good train service from Olhao, eastwards towards Spain, west to Sagres and Cape St Vincent, and also to Lisbon and the north of the country.
