Secluded but not isolated, the house is situated in a beautiful area at the end of the small and friendly village of Lagares and is the last house on a track leading into the forest with only a small family farm adjacent to it. Both the house and the land are south facing, with stunning views that stretch over pine and eucalyptus forest out towards the distant Serra da Lousa mountains. Lagares is a typical small Portuguese village full of friendly people, you can have fresh bread delivered to your door every day, meat, fish and grocery vans come 2-3 times a week. A ten minute walk to Travanca do Mondego with two mini supermarkets, two cafe/bars, a fabulous new kids' playground and BBQ area with toilets and washing up facilities. There are also two schools, the Escola Jardim nursery school, taking children from 3-6yrs and the infant/junior school 6-11yrs. The senior school is in the beautiful town of Sao Pedro de Alva, only 4km away. As well as schools Sao Pedro has the local health, Centro de Saude, numerous cafes and restaurants, bakery, grocery stores, paper shop, banks, hardware store, post office and has fantastic festas (Portuguese festivals) throughout the year. Nearby larger towns include Mortagua, Penacova and Santa Comba Dao, all a 15min drive away.
