Jalon is is 5km, 2 other towns Gata de Gorgos and Benissa are only a short 10 minutes drive away and have a huge selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
The coastline and beaches can be reached in a 30 minute car journey and the towns of Denia, Javea, Moriara and Calpe are a similar distance.. The Port of Denia is a working town with a big fish market where you can watch the local fishermen bring in their catch and then see it being sold! A delightful town with a Castle, wide boulevards, path side eating and drinking restaurants and hundreds of shops and numerous hotels. It has a bustling busy indoor market area open 6 days a week, and a large general market on a Monday. It also has a ferry port with regular sailings to the Balearic Islands and a large marina where you can pick up boats to take you along the pretty coastline. There is also a main rail line to Alicante which has stops at Gata de Gorgos and Benissa, plus a coach station. In common with most Spanish towns its celebrates many religious occasions and a wonderful colourful re-enactions of the "Moors and Christians an absolute must, plus the marvelous Fiesta of the Firas held on the 19th March every year.
Venturing inland by car is easy as it is served by a network of roads, travelling to the Bernia Mountains behind Jalon is beautiful as the scenery is stunning and there you can visit local restaurants serving Spanish Paella and local wild boar, rabbit, pork and lamb.
