Villena is a monumental city, and the capital of the region. From the castle you can see a wide panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. The historic centre of the city forms around the castle and when you descend down from it you find two beautiful Gothic churches among the narrow streets and white houses that make up the historic quarter: the archpriestal church of Santiago, from the 15th century, and the church of Santa María, from the 16th century. In the building that houses the City Hall, you must visit the Municipal Museum of Archaeology, where you can admire the beauty of the precious metalwork that makes the famous Treasure of Villena, from the Late Bronze Age. Villena has a wealth of very good restaurants, bars, cafes and shops and is a great place to wonder around
of an evening and soak up the Spanish atmosphere.
