In the heart of the Vaud Alps, on the slopes of Mont Jorogne, Gryon is a true mountain village that has successfully held on to its charm and culture. Perched on a south-facing precipice, overhanging the valley created by the Avançon river and with magnificent views over the Muverans, the village is an unspoilt collection of traditional wood chalets.
Gryon is a quiet, peaceful village. However, it is the centre of a thriving commune and,
unlike many other villages, still supports several shops. The resort of Villars, with its
extensive range of shops and restaurants, is only minutes away by mountain train or car.
The towns of Lausanne and Montreux are within easy reach, and so are the lovely vineyards of the region – in particular, the 11th century terraced vineyards of Lavaux, which are now a Unesco World Heritage site.
Thanks to the excellent public transport system, it is an easy journey from any airport
in Switzerland to Gryon.
