Property in Turkey
Likened to Spain in the 1970s by virtue of the huge growth potential of its tourist industry, Turkey has been flying up the overseas property hitlist in recent years. Popular locations include Altinkum, which features three sandy beaches; the pretty South Aegean seaside resort of Bodrum; thriving fishing town Fethiye; and popular tourist resort Marrnaris. More adventurous investors have bought in the former imperial capital, Istanbul. With prices already spiralling upwards, predictions of EU entry and eventually even a conversion to the euro add fuel to a market already appealing to second home owners, investors and retirees alike.
